Missed Connections: Disconnected Balls

Missed connections overwhelmingly occur in locations of public transportation, concerts, on the street, coffee shops, bars and clubs.  Whether it’s a lost opportunity to meet a girl, getting lost in a crowd, or losing her contact information, missed connections happen.

See that girl who arouses emotions, but then she’s gawwwwwwwwwwn, never to be seen or heard from again. Emotions of excitement turnover to emotions of regret.

It’s no longer the possibility of you and her; it’s you and nothing.

Thoughts of what should’a, could’a, would’a haunt these love-struck hopefuls when they reflect on the girl who exchanged glances or smiled back at them, or they even had a brief conversation with.

They didn’t get the girl, they got a missed connection.

59th street station – m4w (Upper East Side)
Yesterday, around 6pm. I was on the 5 train headed uptown. You were on the platform. The doors closed and as the train began to pull away, our eyes met through the window and we both smiled at each other.

Redhead at Trader Joe’s Fri w/grey dog coffee – m4w – 35 (Union Square)
You were shopping at TJ”s on 14th St. Friday around 10:30 am. You strolled down each aisle casually as you sipped your the grey dogs coffee. I thought you were a vision. Wanted so badly to say hello-but beautiful women such as yourself must get tired of it. Now I wish I had. Hope this finds you, and you let me treat you to one of those grey dogs. A smitten tall guy.

42nd & Broadway, Times Square, Around 6pm. – m4w – 28 (Midtown)
Your dark hair was up, our eyes met twice, stunned by your exquisite beauty, I…
I missed my chance, so perhaps I deserve to loose it, perhaps.
Let’s meet. Your choice.
I have a good job, a great apartment, am a very healthy, and ambitious young-man.
Looking to meet my female equal. Are you the one?
-Philip

Although the Craigslist examples above are both hilarious and pathetic, how often can anyone reading this recall the instances where they saw that girl that excited them and they really wanted to do something…but ultimately didn’t.

The Craigslist examples are not just painful to read, it’s painful to know it even exist.

Think about it-

It’s never the approaches made that are regretted…it’s the approaches that aren’t.

What you talk about here about misses opportunity and connections is spot on. And, not only does it apply to women – it applys in life. The pain of regret is always the biggest.

Look forward to connecting with you some more,
